last cowboy on mars

Dust devils spin on Olympus plains
Red sunset burning through methane rains
A rusted rover by an old cantina sign
And a lonely radio counting borrowed time
He rides a solar horse of steel and chrome
Six-shooter lasers hanging by his coat
No cattle left, no towns to save
Just ghosts inside the terraformed domes
And they say
The last cowboy on Mars
Still follows dying stars
Across the silent valleys
And abandoned satellite yards
He sings old country songs
To a world that moved too far
Just one forgotten drifter
The last cowboy on Mars
His hat’s held together by magnetic thread
He sleeps beside reactors glowing blue instead
The Earth he knew became a memory stream
A faded transmission in a broken dream
The corporations came and mined the bones
Built their kingdoms high above the stones
Then packed their bags when the water failed
Leaving neon churches and empty rails
And they say
The last cowboy on Mars
Still follows dying stars
Across the silent valleys
And abandoned satellite yards
He sings old country songs
To a world that moved too far
Just one forgotten drifter
The last cowboy on Mars
At night he watches Phobos crawl
Like an omen hanging small
And every crater knows his name
Though nobody recalls
One final horse beneath two moons
One final man humming old saloon tunes
When the oxygen fades and the engines stall
He’ll tip his hat to the end of it all
And they’ll say
The last cowboy on Mars
Finally rode beyond the stars
Through the cold and crimson dark
Past the graveyards of our wars
Still singing old Earth songs
Where lonely souls are
Forever rides the drifter
The last cowboy on Mars
